I see a lot of complaints on here mostly about the same things, more money you spend better chance of winning, top girls are coached or fake and it is a money grab. My answer to this yes some of that is true. That being said this is my daughter second year and her...

I just commpetted in Miss Pennsylvania pre teen 2018 and had a lot of fun. I met new people and made it to top 10. Now here’s why I will probably never go back. I did NAM for 5 years and each year the winner didn’t follow ATLEAST 1 rule. This year the winner didn’t...

So true! It sure is not the system it use to be.

The bigger they get the more they stray from following through on their rules and regulations. They do play favorites and if the reigning queen doesn’t like you, others follow.

Some of these girls are not judged on merit. If you lose you want to lose to someone who deserves it, not because they and their parents are schmoozing and pouring tons of money into the system.

I competed in the NAM PA organization in both the Pre-Teen & Teen divisions from 2012 to 2015 in Harrisburg & was awarded top five in the Miss Division. I accepted the invitation to Anaheim, California in 2016. I am very pleased that I have done so. It was very...

Girls in age categories are not same age - National American Miss review
I recently just competed in the 2017 JR.Teen pageant at National American Miss. The age limit was 15 but 16 year old girls won. It is very frustrating to see how much lying the girls do. For example a girl next to me was 16 but wrote 15 on her card. Very upset and sad...

while SCAM, I mean NAM claims to go by age on january 1st they require zero proof of age.....they've been outed for allowing contestants to compete in different states and compete in wrong age divisions. very shady pageant, sadly this has been common among the for profit pageants. save your money, don't waste it on NAM

National American Miss Beauty Pageant Review from De Pere, Wisconsin
I have competed in NAM twice: When I was 16 and again when I was 19. Neither time ended well for me, especially the 2nd time. The first time was my first pageant ever so I didn't know what to expect nor did I realize I would be competing against 150 some girls. The 2nd...

My two girls had participated this year 2016. They love it even though I make them participate in the selling ads because I believe is very important to show them how people make business out there I took the time with them to show them how hard life is. But great...

A lot of these reviews are negative, and as a girl who has competed in this pageant for the past six years, I want to set some things straight. About money: Any pageant will cost money, because they have to pay for everything too. NAM is upfront about all of the...

You are absolutely right! Any pageant costs money.

But, not all pageants disclose those expenses before requiring a signature on the Official Application -- NAM's legally-binding contract -- before dispensing complete financial disclosures.

Before any prospective contestant attends a NAM Open Call, come equipped with knowledge.

Go to Amazon and read Anna Stanley's book, Producing Beauty Pageants: Open Call, Chapters 12, "Full Financial Disclosure at Open Call," Chapter 13, "NAM Open Call in Session," and last, but not least, Chapter 11, "Refund Policy."

Then, once you understand how NAM works, and you want to participate, you and hundreds of girls can strive for that crown!

NAM was an extreme disappointment. Why don't the employees wear name badges to identify themselves? The girls weren't taught any skills. The only direction given were in the handouts. There are other very legitimate pageants that actually teach the girls some poise,...

NAM themselves said that they retain names from their sponsors: Ford, Cheerleading Magazine, John Robert Powers Modeling School, and National Honor Roll. If you look up "National Honor Roll," it appears to be a scam in itself!

It's amazing that Ford has sponsored NAM since 2003. Ford reps truly don't realize (or maybe don't care) what's going on.

But hey, at least you do! Thanks for sharing.

My daughter had a horrible time at the NAM pageant in 2013. Everything was last minute and it was just thrown together. She made it to Top 15 or 10 I don't remember which one they did. Parents/Guardians aren't allowed to go in the dressing room to help the girls get dressed. They had about three women in the room helping the girls get dressed in a small amount of time. My daughter said they gave them about seven minutes each to get dressed. The dressing room for the interviews with the judges was okay, because there was one lady that helped my daughter right away after they told all of the parents to get out. The dressing rooms weren't even really nice. They just had this huge room with about three room dividers just anywhere. I do not recommend going to this pageant.

At the regional pageant in charlotte, 2015, the changing room consisted of one giant open conference room. No mirrors, no plugs. My daughter was horrified and very disappointed
